Stir-Fried Seaweed Stem
Ingredients
Makes 4 servings
- 1/2 bag (7 oz) salted seaweed stems
- 1/2 tbsp garlic, minced
- 1 tbsp hot pepper powder (optional)
- 2 small fish cakes, sliced
- 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
- 1/2 tsp hon-dashi (dried bonito essence)
- 1 tsp sesame oil
- 1/2 tbsp scallion, finely chopped
- 1 tbsp water
- 1 tsp sesame seeds
- 2 tbsp vegetable oil
Method
- Rinse the seaweed stems in cold water a few times until sea salt is gone.
- Soak the seaweed in water for about 3 hours.
- Cut the seaweed into bite size pieces; split some thick pieces with your finger if necessary.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium high heat, add the minced garlic, 1/2 tbsp hot pepper powder, and saute for 1 minute.
- Stir in the fish cakes and cook over medium heat for 1 minute.
- Stir in the seaweed and cook for about 5 minutes.
- Add in the remaining of hot pepper powder, soy sauce, hondashi, sesame oil, scallions, water and stir well. Cook for 3 minutes until the liquid is absorbed.
- Adjust the taste with soy sauce or salt.
- Garnish with sesame seeds on the top and serve.
