Red Chili Hummus





Ingredients
Makes 6 servings

  • 1 can(15.5oz) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • 3 small garlic cloves
  • juice of 1 lime
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/4 cup water or liquid from the chickpea can
  • pinch ground black pepper
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce(Tuong Ot Toi Viet Nam) ~ according to taste add 1 tbsp for less spicy hummus

Method

  1. Place the beans in a food processor with garlic, lime juice, olive oil, and liquid.
  2. Puree until hummus is smooth.
  3. Add the ground pepper and salt to taste.
  4. Add the chili garlic sauce and stir well with the hummus paste. 
  5. Refrigerate a few hours to infuse the flavors or serve immediately.






Hummus can be very versatile as you can serve with raw celery,  baby carrots or with baked pita chips. I love spicy hummus to accompany with hamburgers. It adds a great kick!
