Red Chili Hummus
Ingredients
Makes 6 servings
- 1 can(15.5oz) chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 3 small garlic cloves
- juice of 1 lime
- 2 tbsp olive oil
- 1/4 cup water or liquid from the chickpea can
- pinch ground black pepper
- salt to taste
- 2 tbsp chili garlic sauce(Tuong Ot Toi Viet Nam) ~ according to taste add 1 tbsp for less spicy hummus
Method
- Place the beans in a food processor with garlic, lime juice, olive oil, and liquid.
- Puree until hummus is smooth.
- Add the ground pepper and salt to taste.
- Add the chili garlic sauce and stir well with the hummus paste.
- Refrigerate a few hours to infuse the flavors or serve immediately.
Hummus can be very versatile as you can serve with raw celery, baby carrots or with baked pita chips. I love spicy hummus to accompany with hamburgers. It adds a great kick!
