Pumpkin Steamed Buns 南瓜小饅頭



Ingredients
Makes 25 Mini Buns
  • 90g Lukewarm milk or water
  • 1tsp Active dry yeast
  • 250g Unbleached all purpose flour
  • 25g Sugar
  • 10g Vegetable oil
  • 60g Pumpkin, mashed

Method
  1. Dissolve the yeast in lukewarm milk in a large bowl.
  2. Mix well all ingredients with the yeast mixture , and knead the dough for 5 minutes until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough in a container and let it rest at room temperature for 10 minutes.
  4. Roll out the dough to a  12" x 8" rectangle. 
  5. Brush with some water on the surface.
  6. Roll out the dough tightly from the longer edge to form a log. 
  7. With seam side down, gently rock the log back and forth with your hands moving out toward both ends and expanding to 25" long log.
  8. Slice the log into 25 pieces. 
  9. Line the baking paper in the steamer. (Cut the parchment paper to your steamer size.) 
  10. Spread the buns on the steamer and pour some warm water in the bottom of the steamer. Cover the steamer, and let the buns rise for 15 minutes. 
  11. After the final rise, turn on the steamer and steam the buns for 12 to 15 minutes or until it's cooked. 
  12. Serve immediately.
