Reese's Chewy Chocolate Cookies

Ingredients
Makes 4 dozen cookies or bars

  • 2 cups unbleached all purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/4 cups butter or margarine, softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 package (10oz.) Reese's peanut butter chips


Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF. 
  2. In a large bowl, cream the butter and sugar together until fluffy. 
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Sift together the flour, cocoa, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add to the creamed mixture.
  5. Stir in the peanut butter chips. Drop by rounded teaspoons onto cookie sheet.
  6. Bake 9 to 10 minutes. Cool slightly on cookie sheet, then remove from sheet to wire rack to cool completely.
To make chocolate bars:
  1. Spread batter in greased 15 1/2 x 10 1/2 x 1 inch pan. Bake at 350ºF for 20 minutes. 
  2. Cool completely in pan on wire rack; cut into bars.
